Where centuries of craft meet conscious creation
KB ART was born in the heart of Jodhpur — the Blue City of Rajasthan — with a single, powerful belief: that the world deserves to experience the beauty of Indian handicrafts, and that the hands that create them deserve to be celebrated and sustained.
Founded by artisans and for artisans, KB ART bridges the gap between centuries-old Rajasthani craft traditions and homes around the world. Every piece we make carries the soul of Jodhpur — its colours, its textures, and its stories.
Our workshop in Jodhpur is home to a community of skilled craftsmen and women — many of whom have inherited their trade across multiple generations. From master wood carvers to Pichwai painters, each artisan brings a lifetime of knowledge to every piece they create.
These are not factory workers. They are artists. They chisel intricate floral motifs by hand, apply distressed finishes with traditional tools, and paint delicate Pattachitra patterns with brushes made from a single hair. No two pieces are ever exactly alike — and that is exactly the point.
"When you bring a KB ART piece into your home, you are welcoming the story of a craftsman who poured their heart into it."
We begin with carefully sourced Sheesham (Indian Rosewood) and Mango wood — both known for their durability, grain beauty, and sustainability. Each plank is hand-inspected for quality before entering the workshop.
Using traditional chisels and mallets, our carvers bring intricate patterns to life — from geometric Rajasthani motifs to flowing floral designs. This stage can take days for a single piece.
Pieces are joined using traditional mortise-and-tenon techniques and bonded with biodegradable, non-toxic glues — ensuring strength without compromising our commitment to the environment.
Distressed finishes, gold touch detailing, and handpainted Pattachitra art are applied by specialist artisans. Each layer is applied by hand, dried naturally, and inspected before the next is added.
Every finished piece is inspected, photographed, and carefully packed for its journey to your home — anywhere in the world. We take pride in ensuring it arrives exactly as it left our workshop.
We believe that beautiful craft should not come at the cost of the planet. Every material we choose is selected with care for both quality and sustainability.
| Material | Why We Use It |
|---|---|
| Sheesham Wood | A fast-growing hardwood native to India, prized for its rich grain and natural durability. Responsibly harvested from managed forests. |
| Mango Wood | Sourced from mango trees at the end of their fruit-bearing life, giving the wood a second purpose and reducing waste. |
| Biodegradable Glues | Non-toxic, plant-based adhesives that are safe for your home and kind to the environment. |
| Natural Pigments | Traditional Pattachitra paints use mineral and plant-based pigments, keeping the ancient art form alive and chemical-free. |
| Gold Leaf & Detailing | Applied by hand using traditional gilding techniques passed down through generations of Rajasthani craftsmen. |
At KB ART, our artisans are not just workers — they are partners. We are committed to:
